I cried today

I cried today. I am terrified for our country and our freedoms. Heartbroken for people suffering. Angry at the GOP for being cowards and not banding together to stand up to musk and trump to follow the rule of law and our constitution. They kiss Trump’s ring and seem to be fine with him acting like a king. They also don’t seem to mind that an unelected billionaire / psychopathic narcissist from South Africa is running our government and has control of every spec of our country’s data and funds AND all of our personal information – and, in a normal world, he would never pass security clearance.

There are normal Republicans still in office, correct?? Normal Republicans who used to work with democrats to solve problems, right? Who could work together to unify the country, not divide us, correct? Politicians all work for us, the American people, not the other way around.

It is not an honor for us to have Trump as a president, as he states. It is an honor for him to serve the American people as president. He works for us.

What further information do people need to realize Musk is a Bond villain and Trump is a useful idiot? What would these guys need to do for people to realize they don’t care about this country, and certainly not the American people? More people didn’t vote for him than voted for him. 31.78% voted for Trump, 30.84% voted for Harris, 1.06% voted third party, and 36.33% did not vote. It’s not a landslide in any stretch of the imagination. It is not a mandate.

Right now, we are losing our rights, and they are filling their pockets. Musk keeps making billions of dollars at our expense and he’s a South African white supremacist. His companies have billions upon billions of federal contracts — and he is eliminating oversight offices that had been investigating his companies. Meanwhile, he has all the data from his competitors’ federal contracts and is now working to take those over as well.

And, somehow, they even make it worse by cruelly laughing about everything. Everything is so funny to these men. They sit and laugh about all this, all the suffering. Have you seen the cabinet meeting? All of the men laughing along with Trump and musk, no one would dare go against them. They’re all petrified. These guys are not conservatives, this is big government intruding into our personal lives. And a complete money and power grab.

Everyone should be up in arms, not just people directly affected. They are taking away women’s rights, already have in some states. Women have died because doctors wouldn’t treat women who have miscarried with timely medical care in those states. This administration has said that husbands should be allowed to vote for their wives and children. They are trying to suppress women’s votes by saying your birth certificate has to match your drivers license. It doesn’t matter if you’re a woman, this should make every single person in this country stand up and say NO.

Is this what people signed up for? Give the billionaires more tax breaks and cut hundreds of billions from Medicaid. Cut services for our veterans, 9/11 first responders, the disabled, and seniors. Let the rich pay $5 million dollars for a “gold” card for citizenship. Cozy up to Russia and denounce our allies. Say Ukraine started the war and try to steal its minerals. Take over Canada and Greenland and the Panama Canal. Own and make Gaza into a resort for the rich and kick out everyone else. Fire everyone and if we make a mistake we can always hire them back (teams that handle our nuclear arsenal, air traffic controllers, Ebola prevention, controlling bird flu). Sign a budget that will add a trillion dollars to our deficit in 3 years (because billionaires need more money). Let musk fire the agencies that regulate his businesses, no matter that there are major conflicts of interest. Seek revenge, sue, intimidate and exclude reporters and members of the press if they disagree with, print or say anything negative about Trump and the administration. Give pardons to all January 6th insurrectionists, even the ones who were violent to police officers. Call social security an entitlement and talk about dismantling it, even though we have all paid into it for years and years. Replace highly qualified military leaders with those loyal to Trump, not the Constitution. Appoint unqualified cabinet members, as long as they are loyal to Trump.

Did you know that House leaders are telling Republicans to not hold Town Halls in person anymore, after a woman doctor was dragged out of a town hall for trying to speak out. Zip tied and dragged out. Look it up. Now House leaders are telling Republicans to have Zoom / online Town Halls instead of in-person so that they don’t look bad, and so that they can control the messaging.

And the list goes on and on. It’s so disheartening, so unbelievable, but it’s happening. So… what can we do?  I’ve been making calls using “5-Calls” and sending money. Not buying anything today (economic blackout day) and I’m done with Amazon. I will shop local, small businesses, wherever possible.

I would say at the bare minimum, let’s keep talking about it… people who are silent may need to hear that other people feel the same way.   

I’ve always been a patriot and so sure about our democracy. I want freedom of oppression and the American Dream for everyone, no matter race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national origin — doesn’t matter, we all are Americans and deserve the same exact rights. But for the first time in my life, I don’t know how this will end. I wish for peace for everyone in this world… and I hope and pray for the United States of America, our constitution, our democracy and the American people. I hope and pray we can overcome this together and remain a free country for all.
